Philanthropy

Fall Events:

In the Fall of 2009, SigEp raised over $1300 for the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection, an organization that works with at risk youth in the Rochester area to help them stay in school and successfully graduate high school. SigEp raised the money through a weekend long squash tournament, a Date a SigEp raffle, and a concert featuring The Smooth Talkers band.

This past fall, SigEp also cosponsored a bone marrow registration drive with U of R Hillel and AEPi fraternity where we registered 89 potential new donors.

Spring Events:

Garbage Plate Run:

Held annually, the Garbage Plate Run, is a biathlon where teams of 1 or 3 members complete the 4.4 mile

run from the U of R River Campus to the Nick Tahou’s resturant, eat a “garbage plate” and run back to

campus.

This spring, 4 teams and 10 Iron Men participated in the race.  Check out the action here.
